Tour of Blavatnik School of Government building

On Thursday, 19th January 2017, the International Committee of the Rotary Club of Oxford hosted a building tour of the Blavatnik School of Government and a fund-raising dinner at Brasserie Blanc. The event was conducted to raise money for educational and community programmes in Leon, Nicaragua in conjunction with the Oxford Leon Association and Trust (OLAT).

Andy Darley, Blavatnik’s Facilities & Services Manager, delivered an informative and interesting talk on the design and construction of the new building and also the work undertaken by the school, which was founded to facilitate the promotion of good governance across the globe. His talk was followed by a tour through the key areas of the building and we were afforded a wonderful sunset over the City of Oxford from the top floor of the central atrium.

The tour was followed by a delicious meal at Brasserie Blanc which raised almost £500.00 for good causes.

We had an excellent turn-out from both the Rotary and OLAT and Andy has offered us an opportunity to visit other areas of the redeveloped Radcliffe Infirmary/Observatory site in late spring. Everyone had an enjoyable evening and we offer our sincere thanks to Andy and the Brasserie for making it such a success.
